- Melaye predicted that Yahaya Bello will be defeated in the election

Senator Dino Melaye has predicted that Governor Yahaya Bello will be defeated in the Kogi governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16.

Tribune reports that the Kogi lawmaker also dispelled rumour that he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following his loss at the party’s primary election.

Melaye also said there would be no senatorial election, expressing confidence that he would defeat Smart Adeyemi if there was any.

There have been rumours circulating that the lawmaker planned to join the All Progressives Congress in order to retain his senatorial seat.

The report indicated that Melaye met with the governor but the lawmaker described it as false.

He said: “All lies. I cannot meet Yahaya Bello for any reason. And he must go. I will defeat Smart any day but there will be no fresh election.

“Adeyemi is a confused man who allows desperation to becloud his thinking. He is a political obituary. He inhabits in a fool’s paradise, he is operating in political deficit.”

It was reported that the publicity secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, had announced that Melaye had been appointed as director-general of the party’s campaign council for the election.

The lawmaker wished the party well but rejected the appointment.
